Damian Barrett exits AFL Footy Show
AFL newsman is leaving after a decade with Nine show as questions about its future persist.
AFL newsman Damian Barrett (pictured left) is leaving the AFL Footy Show after a decade with the Nine show.
The Sunday Herald Sun reports he will take on an expanded role at AFL.com.au, with opinion, analysis and news.
Last month he reportedly had a behind the scenes clash with Eddie McGuire over a news story said to involve Collingwood.
But his departure may be the first of many. Last week Nine belatedly confirmed the show’s return in 2019 after it was initially left off an Upfronts press release.
While Nine will indeed have an AFL show in 2019 few are expecting them to stick to their wording last week.
Barrett is expected be involved with other Nine AFL programming.
