The end is nigh….

It’s a wildly imaginative first trailer for Good Omens, coming to Amazon Prime in 2019.

The series stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant and features Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Michael McKean, Jack Whitehall, Adria Arjona, Anna Maxwell Martin, Derek Jacobi, Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton.

The trailer was unveiled by Neil Gaimain, Tennant and Sheen at New York Comic-Con.

Based on the best-selling novel by renowned authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, this series follows the story of Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, who have formed an unlikely friendship spanning 6,000 years and have grown fond of life on earth. However, the end of time grows near with the approaching Armageddon and they must now join forces to find a way to save the world.

  1. This trailer explains a lot more about the show for those unfamiliar with the original subject matter. If it’s about Armageddon the writers should know that it’s probably already started so they have some catching up to do. Where’s Bill Nighy?, there must be a role for him somewhere.

    1. He is certainly there in spirit! David Tennant is completely riffing on Nighy in that clip from the swagger to the affected drawl and the delivery of his lines. Nighy is too old for the part of Crowley unfortunately. Personally, they missed a trick in not getting the fantastic Peter Serafinowicz who played the demon in the brilliant BBC radio play. If you have heard him as Crowley, nobody could come close and certainly not the gurning Tennant. Michael Sheen is rather good though, isn’t he? Mind, Mark Heap is jolly good in the BBC play too.

Anyhoos, I doubt this will hold a candle to the radio play or indeed the book. It is one of those stories where the cinema in your mind can only do justice to it.
