Nine has picked up a 6 part thriller The Gulf being co-produced by New Zealand and Germany.

Set in New Zealand, The Gulf follows a detective investigating crimes on her home patch of Waiheke Island, but things unravel personally and professionally when she loses her memory in a car crash that kills her husband.

The series is directed by Charlie Haskell (Straight Forward, Tangiwai), Gaysorn Thavat (Fresh Eggs) and Rob Sarkies (This Is Not My Life, Out of the Blue).

It is produced by NZ’s Screentime and Lippy Pictures, along with Studio Hamburg Production Group-owned Letterbox Filmproduktion and broadcaster ZDF.

Nine will stage its Upfronts for 2019 late this afternoon in Sydney and is rumoured to be announcing an Aussie drama revival.

The Upfronts event will have a shop front highlighting Nine key franchises across TV and digital and the goodies include The Block Monopoly games, The Voice speakers, Lego builder packs and other  prizes. But first guests have to spin the lucky wheel.

TV Tonight will be live tweeting announcements after 4:15pm. #9Upfront
