Poldark, Peaky Blinders, Line of Duty all filming new seasons.

Casting and filming details on three favourite titles, underway in Britain.

Filming of favourite dramas Poldark, Peaky Blinders, Line of Duty is currently underway in the UK.

The first image has been released of Peaky Blinders Season 5, which began filming in Manchester in September, with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby.

Also returning to the series are Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips and Natasha O’Keefe.

Aidan Gillen and Jack Rowan return as father and son heavyweights Aberama and Bonnie Gold along with Charlie Murphy  and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Series five also sees the return of series regulars Harry Kirton, Packy Lee, Ned Dennehy, Ian Peck and poet/musician Benjamin Zephaniah.

Series five of Steven Knight’s crime family saga finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.

The fifth and final series of Poldark is filming at Poldark‘s Cornish cottage, Nampara.

An image posted on the show’s official Twitter page, captioned ‘The Poldarks return to Nampara!’, shows Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner), Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson), their children, Clowance and Jeremy, and fan-favourite Prudie Paynter (Beatie Edney), the Poldark’s household servant.

The show’s fifth season will be based on the unwritten decade between 1800 and 1810 in Winston Graham’s books saga.

Meanwhile Line of Duty is currently shooting Season 5 in Northern Ireland.

“With Line of Duty we’re shooting series five now, and series six has been commissioned which we’re going to shoot hopefully in the next couple of years,” creator Jed Mercurio recently said.

“So yeah, Line of Duty should be on air, series five early in 2019.”

A sixth season has already been approved.

Stephen Graham (Save Me, Taboo, This Is England) will star as John Corbett alongside Rochenda Sandall as Lisa McQueen – two pivotal figures in a deadly organised crime group. Known to have links with corrupt police officers and suspected to be under direct command of the shadowy figure known only as ‘H’, Corbett and McQueen become persons of interest to AC-12 following an explosive chain of events.

Series five will follow a new case for AC-12 set nearly two years on from the hit crime drama’s previous instalment (which started last night on ABC).

Joining regular series lead stars Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, the new series will also see the return of Maya Sondhi as PC Maneet Bindra, Polly Walker as Gill Biggeloe, Aiysha Hart as DS Sam Railston, Tony Pitts as Det. Ch. Supt. Les Hargreaves and Andrea Irvine as Roisin Hastings.

They will be joined by newcomers Taj Atwal, Richard Pepple  as new regulars PC Tatleen Sohota and PS Kyle Ferringham, alongside Susan Vidler, Sian Reese-William), Ace Bhatti  and Elizabeth Rider.

Mercurio’s Bodyguard has also been a runaway success, with discussions underway with BBC for a second season.

  1. Jed Mercurio is also under some pressure to write season 2 of Bodyguard as well, so as Line of Duty production was delayed for Bodyguard season 1 there could be a quandary coming for fans of both shows, even though it’s unlikely that Bodyguard 2, if and when it gets made, will ever reach the same ratings peek as the first series.

  2. Excellent news! Line of Duty is quality, and I probably would have not become such a massive fan if it weren’t for your recommendation, David, so thank you.
