Veteran US actor Scott Wilson, best known for The Walking Dead, has died aged 76.
According to media reports his death was the result of complications from leukemia.
Wilson (pictured left) played Walking Dead‘s Hershel, for seasons 2, 3 and 4, but had a career that spanned decades, with roles in films like Judge Dredd, In Cold Blood, The Right Stuff, Dead Man Walking, Pearl Harbor, The Great Gatsby and The Ninth Configuration which landed him a nomination.
TV credits included CSI, Bosch, Law & Order,  The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, Justified, Damien & Enlightened.
AMC said in a statement, “Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person. The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show.
“Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our character’s choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, his family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed.”
Wilson is also returning to his role on The Walking Dead for their ninth season, and it’s believed his episodes were filmed earlier.
