ABC shows flows across Wednesday, Seven takes win.

Ratings: ABC crowds flow from one show to the next, consistently above 600,000. Seven wins overall, as Nine does it tough.

Commercial networks will be looking on ABC with envy last night. It had one of the things most valued in TV programming land: audience flow.

From around 7pm – 9:30 their numbers were consistently at 600,000 or higher, a much better place to be than riding a rollercoaster of highs and lows.

Hard Quiz and 7:30 won their slots at 679,000 / 625,000 respectively ahead of The Bachelorette on 537,000, Bride & Prejudice at 525,000 (which appear to be chasing the same crowd) and Family Food Fight at 380,000 up slightly on Tuesday.

ABC’s luck continued with Mad as Hell and the debut of Tomorrow Tonight at 665,000 / 600,000 respectively ahead of 9-1-1 on 493,000, Playing for Keeps at 399,000 and Manifest at 345,000. It’s worth noting that Playing for Keeps was second in the demos across the night.

Nine had a particularly bad night unable to rise above 800,000 viewers anywhere. One also can’t overlook that Seven’s network win was not just due to multichannels with Criminal Minds doubles enjoying a good late night crowd.

Seven News, ABC News and The Chase won early slots.

Seven network won Wednesday with 30.4% then Nine 25.5%, ABC 20.5%, TEN 17.6% and SBS 7.4%.

  1. I was on SBS most of the night…I had to go do a search for Playing for Keeps …I did start watching in the beginning…and liked it…but when TEN dropped off the radar of TV Tonight…I forgot all about it…This is where I go…a few times a day for all my TV info….if it is not here…then I miss it.

  2. I agree I like Pointless to. Mark I find funny and he and Andrew bounce off each other really well.

Playing for Keeps is just great tv to watch at the moment and it’s a shame it’s finishing up next week. I hope it does come back.

  3. I don’t get the staying power of reality shows i watched a few in the early 2000s and i don’t even think i watched a whole series, all they do year after year is use the same formula just have different people???? … Could you imagine if they did that with a drama, same story different actors!!!!

    Loved tomorrow tonight though!

  4. I’ve never watched one of the reality dating shows (Bachelors, MAFS, etc.) but I must somewhat shamefully admit that I’ve been sucked into Bride & Prejudice this season and really quite enjoying it. Tough to go up against The Bachelorette though. Perhaps Seven would be better off keeping it to just Monday and Tuesday, avoiding the genre clash with the more established brand on 10

  5. I also loved Tomorrow Tonight, it hit the same sweet spot of thoughtful and funny that Gruen does. Why they would put a music show on afterwards is beyond me.

  6. I have to say I was rather surprised by Tomorrow Tonight. It had me hooked. Will be interesting to see what the ratings are next week. Mad as Hell is still the best show currently on TV.

  7. Pointless was 185,000. Did anyone see this disaster in the making coming ? Certainly not all the smart boffins in TEN or is that 10 programming … What out of touch muppets…

    1. I have said it before and I will say it again, I like Pointless. I get annoyed at people talking as if no one at all watches a show. Half an hour of a bit of fun and silliness never hurt anyone. Nice to support and Australian show as well and keep a lot of people in employment anyway.
