Actor John Jarratt has been committed to stand trial next year in the NSW District Court on a charge of rape stemming back to 1976.
ABC reports the 66 year old actor was in court this morning and stood and nodded as a magistrate committed him for trial.
It is alleged a 24 year old Jarratt sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman at a house in Daintrey Place in Randwick, in September 1976.
The woman made a report to police last December and a formal investigation began.
Jarratt, best known for titles including Wolf Creek, Better Homes & Gardens and The Last Outlaw, pleaded not guilty today.
Last month solicitor, Bryan Wrench, said his client wanted to put this case in the “express lane to a trial date” so it could be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Stan is yet to formally announce plans for a third season of Wolf Creek.
