US action drama has been renewed for a 7th season -but is a cast change looming?

US action drama Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been renewed for a seventh season.

The announcement comes just six months after it was picked up for a sixth season, which has yet to premiere.

The series, co-created by Joss Whedon, stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons and Natalia Cordova-Buckley.

Not listed for season 7 is Clark Gregg (pictured centre), who has starred as Agent Phil Colson throughout the series.

It airs in Australia on Seven.

  1. It needs to be screened at a constant day and time, I usually wait for the DVD because I can never keep track of when it is screening on Seven. Same as they did for Suits, all over the place !

  2. At the end of S5 Colson was terminally ill and left to spend his last few days with May on a beach. So we are not expecting Gregg in S6 either. S6 wasn’t listed for ABC’s primetime lineup and there was talk of it airing in the US Summer. It now appears that it may not air till the end of 2019. There have also been rumours it may end up on Disney’s streaming service. S7 would not air before 2020.

    1. From what I’ve read Season 6 is definitely airing in the US Summer, basically Captain Marvel will feature both SHIELD, Agent Coulson and Nick Fury, with Avengers 4 also possibly doing the same and that is out in cinemas May, 2019 with SHIELD following on TV possibly in June. If the rumours of Time-Travel in Avengers 4 (trailer out maybe Nov 28th) to reset what happened in Avengers: Infinity War pan out, then Coulson could end up being saved in that film yet (or it happens in Captain Marvel).

      1. ABC had said that S6 would air in Summer 2019 May, then in was July after the next Avengers movie. However, two articles and a blog reporting the commissioning of S7 have said that it now S6 had been pushed back till Winter 2019.
