Report: Endemol Shine sale is off

Plans to sell global production company have been suspended by 21st Century FOX & Apollo Global Management

Plans to sell global production company Endemol Shine have been suspended by the company’s co-owners, 21st Century FOX and Apollo Global Management.

Variety reports shareholders hoped a sale would fetch upwards of US$2 billion (A$2.76B) with previous suitors said to include Fremantle, ITV, Banijay and Sony.

Endemol Shine’s international titles include MasterChef, Peaky Blinders, Big Brother and Black Mirror.

With the sale shelved, FOX’s 50% stake will now be taken over by Disney as part of the Mouse’s purchase of various Fox entertainment assets. That deal is expected to close in the first half of 2019.

In Australia the company is headed up by Mark & Carl Fennessy.
