SBS Food / 7Food: promos

Two Food network promos, but which one whets your appetite?

Here are the promos for the new-look SBS Food (dropping “network” and many US titles), from Saturday November 17 on Channel 33 and 7Food launching on Channel 74 on December 1.

At the centre of the changes is a programming output deal from Discovery shifting from SBS to Seven.

  1. Hi David , I understand all the comments, we have come a long way in tv , I arrived in Australia in 1965 ,from the UK as a littly , and channel 10 had not launched , then was channel 0 , there were only 3 tv channels in Sydney and only in black and white , SBS decades later , now we have choice , but change is constants , my mum always said learn to adapt or you will die , she’s in heaven now , she would love the choices we have now, , I am loving the new channels , glad the networks have decided to get rid of the shopping channels we had a few years ago ( attention the new version channel 10 , quote my Dad , “ get with the program “ ) I wish all the reader love and happiness xxxx o

  2. In a battle of the ads, the SBS is more classy, the Ch7 is more fun and upbeat. But in terms of the shows, it looks like most of the shows I watched on SBS are moving to 7: Cake wars, Chopped, Baking Championship etc. Won’t be watching reruns of Aussie shows such as MKR, and Zumbo showed once again in the promo why he should stick to just baking.

I am not a real fan of watching people cook (unless it is Nigella) and I find food travel shows intensely boring, so I think I will be making the switch to 7.

  3. SBS promo would win other than the song lyrics are so misleading “I’m so fresh, nothing that you’ve seen before”

They couldn’t have gone with something more honest like the recipes and chefs you can’t get enough of?

  4. The SBS promo was by far the better one. Although their logo is very average. Not very creative…. made in Windows Paint? Or Word?

The channel 7 one is very typically channel 7….. cringeworthy

  5. I hate to quickly mute the promo for Seven with that awful music. SBS promo was much more classy and professional, don’t know why Seven had to make such a dreadful promo. The Australian content on 7Food doesn’t look appealing either.

  6. Content wise SBS will likely be better but I don’t know that they have enough content to fill a channel 24x7x365 no doubt we will see a 12hr schedule repeated in a 24hr cycle.
But they’ll smash through that with the content they have in no time at all.

Seven likely have more content with food network programs plus the back catelouge that they own.

    1. When SBS Food Network started it was on a similar high rotation where you’d get the same episodes repeated after 6-12 hours. I imagine both SBS Food and 7 Food will fall into a similar pattern but I think SBS Food will emerge the better of the two channels. Don’t forget that it also has an impressive back catalogue of food titles produced in house and won’t have to resort to MKR repeats!

  7. I think SBS is in trouble. Most of those faces are hardly “Fresh”. And Donna Hay?? Seriously? I don’t think there is room for 2 Food Channels and my bet would be on Channel 7 winning this food fight.
