  1. Was looking forward to Barrenjoey Road with great interest, having grown up on the Peninsula and being a couple of years below Trudie at Barrenjoey High school. Loved seeing all the old landmarks and footage from that time. Unfortunately didn’t find it particularly well-done and it was too drawn out and repetitive. I know they don’t have much to work with but they seemed to keep covering basically the same ground in each ep. Would have liked to see more interviews with friends/colleagues and with a few of the girls who narrowly escaped being abducted around that time. Still, commendable that Trudie’s largely forgotten story has been resurrected after all this time and hopefully it may jog someone’s memory and lead to some vital new information.

    1. I have to agree, but the fact is you can’t make people appear on camera if they choose not to. I have to admit this should have been cut down to maybe 3 half hour episodes! It really wasn’t very well done.

  2. What’s been going on with The Project lately? They seem to be pushing all proper stories to the second half-hour and they’re filling the first half with rather dull non-news… even the top stories of the day you don’t hear about until after 7.
I realize this is when they’re open to more viewers and they’re trying to raise their numbers, but they’re doing it at the expense of people who tune in from 6.30… it’s certainly made me switch off.
Last night their top-story was about a young girl who had fought her way back from being quadriplegic (I don’t know the full story cause I turned off when I realized it was a fluff piece)… I don’t mind these stories occasionally, but should it really be your opening headline and first 10mins of your show?

    1. Disappointing to read someone referring to that brave, kind and inspirational woman’s story as a “fluff piece”. If you had watched the whole story you would have seen it was far from being a fluff piece.

      1. Sorry, I wasn’t meaning to sound insulting, but on a daily ”news” program something like that is considered filler… I said I don’t mind these stories, but not first off.
‘The Project’ is the first thing on when I get home… I used to like to at least get a mention of top-stories, even if they would then pad things out until after 7.
But in the past week it’s just been straight to filler… so I’ve been turning off and going online to see headlines… my point is that it could be alienating other viewers too.

  3. Bride & Prejudice has been a confronting show for me to watch. It’s not nice to see parents interfering in their sons and daughters love relationships. There’s a lot of wisdom to be found in the show in dealing with acceptance and dealing with relationship conflict.

      1. Some of the attitudes displayed in Bride & Prejudice were quite nasty. I hope that viewers were able to understand how not to react and hopefully not use the parents reactions as an example of how to deal with their own circumstances. There could be lessons to be learned from that. But I do see your point that it may also have been better not to show negative themes, such as homophobia at all and to showcase diversity instead.

        1. My 20-somethings are appalled at the attitudes of some of the parents, and moreso, incredulous that people would actually want their attitudes personally exposed on national TV. Misogyny, homophobia, bribery, age-hypogamy. Then, they may be a bit biased, seeing how their 20-years age difference Australian/Asian parents seem to be OK.

      2. Homophic promos? What do you mean? I’m gay and have been loving this show, it deals with the gay couple really well and shows both the couple and the Christian father in a very three dimensional way. All Together Now wheels out a few minorities on stage and has them sing and dance like a dog and pony show lol.

        1. Hi Jacques. The promos focussed heavily on the father’s view and turned me right off. I can’t speak for the episodes. ATN has a diverse 100 (ticking multiple boxes) and like many talent shows has diverse contestants. Haven’t seen any of the participants sensationalised in the same way.

    1. Of course the whole premise of the show is to vilify the parents as old-fashioned fuddy-duddies. I would like to see a follow-up show in five years, to see how many of the parents’ fears were correct. The older I get and the more younger relationships I see, the more I am aware that parents usually have a sixth sense about their kid’s relationships and whether they are going to work.

    2. I would have no hesitation in cutting ties with some of the parents, if they were mine, particularly the religious homophobe, and the mysogonistic and racist father. Life’s to short to suffer such horrible attitudes, family or not.

  4. We spent the night on SBS watching Child Genius and Insight. I’m over the reruns and remakes that 7/9/10 are offering – seen one , seen them all.

    1. repeats, reality & excessive adds, and in show adds/watermarks, its SBS food channel till Netflix these days, we preserver with the occasional movie but spend more time on adverts, makes them unwatchable..
