  1. Being an anthology, S2 didn’t have the characters of Rust and Marty (or McConaughey and Harrelson), or the clever way Pizzolatto used foreshadowing from the IA investigation to develop the story and their relationship across the season. S2 was an OK LA Neo-Noir that was written of by everyone for not being as good as S1, though there were problems, Farrell’s attempt at a gruff American accent was just mumbling in many scenes. Basically Pizzolatto spent a few years developing S1 and was unable to replicate the feat in S2 in 12 months. They have spend a few years on the scripts for S3, hopefully it will be good.

  2. I loved the first season, one of the best performances I’ve seen from both Matthew McConaughey (who polarises critics with his performances over the decades, but I’d say his best since Dallas Buyers Club and A Time To Kill) and Woody Harrelson.

Haven’t seen the second season yet with Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams, but have seen it on the shelves and want to grab it. Can you recommend David or anyone else?
Will try and watch this before Season 3, although shouldn’t be a continuity issue as it’s an anthology.
