Courtney Act in SBS hunt for Eurovision star
Aydan Calafiore & Leea Nanos also join the line-up to represent Australia.

Three more acts have been announced for Eurovision: Australia Decides in February.
Former Australian Idol drag queen Courtney Act, The Voice finalist Aydan Calafiore and teen newcomer Leea Nanos join the previously-announced Kate Miller-Heidke, Sheppard and Mark Vincent in competing to represent Australia in Tel Aviv next May.
Courtney Act, who also won Celebrity Big Brother UK and competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race, has also released her song, Fight for Love. 16-year-old singer-songwriter Leea Nanos becomes a wild card entry after her song submission blew SBS judges away.
Courtney Act said: “A sweet 16 years after Australian Idol I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and a performer and I am so excited. To compete to represent Oz in Eurovision is second only to being on that stage in Tel Aviv and singing my lungs out for my country. I’ve sat at home every year since Guy Sebastian competed in 2015 and have been so keen to be a part of it. Now, this might be my chance!”
Aydan said: “It’s unbelievable to be participating in Eurovision – Australia Decides. Having been a fan of Eurovision, it’s really hard to comprehend that I am going to have a shot at representing our country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. I have such a supportive fan base and I am hoping that together we’ll go on this journey and see a new generation of Eurovision fans.”
Leea Nanos said: “Being involved in Eurovision – Australia Decides means everything to me and the reality hasn’t quite sunk in yet! Being the youngest and most inexperienced in the competition I know I’ll need to really bring my A-game to the stage. It’s unreal that I’ve got this opportunity to perform on the same stage as all of these high-profile Australian artists – artists I admire and aspire to be like. I feel truly honoured.”

Sorry Courtney Act simply no. Weird and quirky act win Eurovision and she isn’t. Just because she won celebrity big brother UK does not mean she is well loved … that series was one of the lowest ratings ever …. She isn’t as much loved any more she has been appearing at prides and on UK tv where she looks like she was bored …. Simply no for me ….
Thinking tactically, I would vote for Courtney Act to be our person.
Drag Queens are in trend at the moment (with the notability of the Drag Race show) & Courtney won the Celeb BBUK – which makes her a notable personality in the UK
I think those are two factors that can favour Act as … well, our act.

Loving the diversity of the contenders.
I would support any of the contenders for the representation of Australia at Eurovision Song Contest. I would also recommend Courtney Act. Courtney Act is much loved, not only in Australia, but also made a high profile in the United Kingdom after winning the Celebrity Big Brother contest there. European’s love campness as there has been a long history of that style being used in Eurovision and it’s usually quite successful.
