Critically-acclaimed Italian drama My Brilliant Friend has been renewed for a second season.

The HBO – RAI production is based on is based on the first book in Elena Ferrante’s best-selling book of the same name, Season 2 will be based on “The Story of a New Name,” her second book in the 4 part series.

Filmed in Italian, with newcomers Elisa Del Genio and Ludovica Nasti, the series has won glowing reviews, at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes (and 96% with audiences).

It screens in Australia through FOX Showcase.
