What I’ve Been Watching: Pia Miranda

Pia Miranda would secretly love to appear on Australian Survivor.

Actor Pia Miranda (pictured left) returns to screens on ABC ME series Mustangs FC on New Year’s Day.

She’s a fan of some killer drama & reality titles (has she been looking over my shoulder at my watchlist?).

What shows are on your must-see TV list lately?

PM: I’m watching Escape at Dannemora at the moment which I am really loving and the performances are amazing. I recently finished The Haunting of Hill House which I enjoyed although it did give me nightmares. Season 2 of Ozark was great and I thought Laura Linney and Jason Bateman were incredible in it. I binged Killing Eve and Safe Harbour when I had downtime on set and I loved them. I’m also a fan of Utopia on the ABC.

What’s your preferred genre to watch and which shows are current highlights?

PM: I tend to mix it up a bit when it comes to my viewing. I do love the darker side of things but I also watch a lot of standup and I’m a huge comedy fan. I’ll watch Veep for a quick pick me up but I do like curling up in bed and bingeing a thriller or a great drama like The Handmaids Tale or The Day which I really enjoyed . I think I’m still mourning the loss of the Sopranos and Breaking Bad but I’m slowly getting over it.

Which guilty pleasure show are you reluctant to admit to watching?

PM: Well… I know actors aren’t meant to like reality but I’m a massive Survivor fan. I never miss a season. I’m having so much fun watching Mike White on the current US season that I’m squealing at the television! I also loved the last season of Australian Survivor, I thought it was so great. I really like Gogglebox too, it’s definitely a guilty pleasure in our family.

What show you would secretly love to appear on?

PM: Well obviously Survivor but I’m not sure I could go that long without a bowl of pasta and a set of tweezers. Also if I didn’t make the jury I would be DEVASTATED! I’d never get over it.

When you settle down for a night on the couch what are your ‘must-haves?’

PM: Hmm a nice cup of tea and the dog on my lap. Unless it’s Gogglebox night, then I do like to have a glass of wine.

Who do you play in Mustangs FC and what can we expect to see in Season 2?

PM: I play Jen Masters who is the mum to Marnie , the captain of the Mustangs soccer team. Season 2 is full of energy with lots of heart and there are some new faces too. The Mustangs face some challenges and we touch on a few serious issues but of course there are also a lot of laughs . The writers are really great and we have incredible directors on Mustangs so we are really fortunate. Stephen Hall has a few shining moments but I won’t ruin it because it’s definitely worth the surprise.

Mustangs FC begins 5pm Tuesday January 1 on ABC ME.

  1. Hey you two, look at what lovely fresh faces (with no makeup), you both have. Stay real. If you think about it , that is exactly what we see on Survivor. I’ll watch.

  2. As much as I hate Celebrities on Survivor (I hated the last Aus season with a passion), I wouldn’t hate seeing Pia on.

She is a fan of the show and that is what makes the game interesting (as shown by many recent seasons of the American show).
