This is the story of Undercurrent, a true-crime series in the tradition of The Jinx and Making a Murderer. An active, unfolding investigation with twists, revelations and cliff-hangers. A series with the potential to divide opinion and spark debate across the country, right up to the dramatic final episode when the threads come together and the truth is revealed. Undercurrent is a CJZ production for Channel Seven.

  1. I do recall a similar censorship issue a while ago when the show Underbelly was banned in Victoria.

    1. True, Underbelly was banned in Victoria. But if memory serves me right, a drama on the ABC in the 1990s was banned in New South Wales (“Blue Murder” I believe was the name of the drama) due to a court case in New South Wales, a similar reason why Underbelly was banned in Victoria.

  2. These days I wonder what is the point of banning a show from broadcast in a particular state? If I did live in Tasmania & I really wanted to watch the show I would simply do so online … using 1 of several different options. Seems somewhat pointless.

    1. The reason Undercurrent is currently banned in Tasmania is that Sue Neill-Fraser’s appeal against the prison sentence for her alleged murder (what the documentary is about) is underway in Supreme Court of Tasmania, with trial hearing to resume in March.
