Aussie nominated in Directors’ Guild of America awards

Daina Reid has been nominated in the DGA Awards for her work on The Handmaid's Tale.

Aussie Daina Reid has been nominated in the 71st Directors Guild of America Awards for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale.

Reid (The Secret River, Romper Stomper, Sunshine) directed two episodes in Season 2 and has been nominated for “Holly.”

She faces stiff competition in the Dramatic Series category from Jason Bateman for Ozark, Lesli Linka Glatter for Homeland, Chris Long for The Americans, and Adam McKay for Succession.

Last year Reid told TV Tonight, “It was incredible. I still pinch myself. I didn’t tell anybody about it because I thought ‘It can’t be real. I don’t want to jinx it.’

“I feel as though I came to it as a viewer. A fan. And then suddenly I was in the ‘world,’ which was a real treat. But you catch yourself sometimes, walking down the street and all the handmaids walk past you.

‘What was wonderful was working with people at the absolute top of their game.
But it didn’t feel that dissimilar to working here.”

Winners will be announced Saturday, February 2, at the Hollywood & Highland Center’s Ray Dolby Ballroom.
