Block’s Bianca to host Women’s Footy

Bianca Chatfield will host the only dedicated program for the AFLW code on free-to-air.

2019 Block contestant Bianca Chatfield will host Nine’s AFLW panel series Women’s Footy this year.

She replaces Tiffany Cherry and joins sports journalist Lauren Wood and premiership player Abbey Holmes in the only dedicated program for the AFLW code on free-to-air television.

Chatfield, who won a Commonwealth Games gold medal as vice-captain of the Australian netball team, has also worked closely with the Collingwood Football and Netball Club and hosted the inaugural AFLW radio show on SEN.

“I have always had aspirations to host a sports program on TV and I’m thrilled to become part of one that showcases amazing stories about female athletes alongside two experts of the game in Lauren Wood and Abbey Holmes,” she said.

“Although I haven’t played, I am a big fan of AFL and AFLW and passionate about supporting women in sport. As a former professional netballer I have been excited to see the growth of AFLW and can’t wait to be involved again.

“I’ve loved watching female TV presenters such as Rebecca Maddern and I am stoked to be given the opportunity to host Women’s Footy, the only free-to-air panel show dedicated to women’s sport.”

The series is produced by CrocMedia.

Sunday, February 2, at 12.00pm on Nine.
