Welcome to the Nightflyer. Board at your own risk.

Nightflyers follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain — in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

Nightflyers is based on the novella by George R. R. Martin, who also serves as an executive producer and is produced by Universal Cable Productions and co-produced by Netflix. Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation for television and is the showrunner and executive producer. Brian Nelson, Mike Cahill and Andrew McCarthy serve as executive producers. Gene Klein, David Bartis and Doug Liman from Hypnotic; Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta of Gaeta Rosenzweig Films; and Lloyd Ivan Miller and Alice P. Neuhauser of Lloyd Ivan Miller Productions also serve as executive producers.

  1. Worth noting that due to his HBO deal, George R R Martin didn’t actually play a direct role in this show. He’s only credited as an executive producer.

    1. Good to Know, It would be interesting to get Mr Martin’s opinion of the finished product, considering his book is only 72 pages long. ie open to lots of interpretation.

  2. Nightflyers is certainly a creative change for the legend of George R.R. Martin who has been submerged writing GoT mythology, but Nightflyers does seem to be ticking off all the stereotypical horror / scifi genres so dedicated fans will no doubt stick with the show hoping it’s becomes an upgraded version of Josh Whedon’s Firefly (maybe). I suspect Nightflyers may take a few episodes to grab the interest, this could be disappointing for some viewers.

  3. I think this has a bit of Event Horizon to it. I like the basic story line and the preview looks pretty interesting so i’ll give this a go for sure. I’m missing Lost in Space too, so this will do nicely.

  4. This is great timing if released soon. Nightflyers is ‘George martin’s (game of thrones), search through space for first contact with aliens. I see it as a horror SIFI version of ‘Lost in Space’ (which is a true story) , a good stopgap while we are awaiting the Robinsons return. The book has lots of the thrill statements , like — board at your own risk — Someone is taking control — This is a warning, not a distress call, do not board the ship — Do not bring the nightflyer back to earth — To save everyone, trust no one — and of course — Captain Eris we have a problem. Captain Eris is a hologram. The year is 2093 and the earth is dying, so the search begins . —advice is — don’t get too attached to ‘any’ character.
