Congrats to Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr who have been an enduring force at Seven News Perth, marking 34 years on air together – a world record run for a news duo.
Since 1985 the pair have dominated ratings in the west. Just amazing.

Congratulations. I only wish BTQ7 in Brisbane had shown Kay McGrath the same courtesy. She was untouchable in the ratings Monday to Friday for years but the idiot’s replaced her with Sharyn Gidella and Bill Woods. Now QTQ9 news regularly beats 7news.
@aesthetic. “Just says Live, with 7.52 below it. That would make it 5.52am Perth time would it not?”
No. 7-3 =4. 7am EDT=4amWDT. Sydney is on Daylight Saving Time, Perth is not.
They look particularly bright for 4.52am
We are actually 3 hours behind the east coast lol
Amazing effort 34 years and counting
When think I was 21 when they started (time does fly)
Remembering Susannah will 67 this year and Rick will be 60 in Mar ( Rick I also celebrating 40 years at 7 perth)
Sue and Rick are a terrific team with perfect on air chemistry and wonderful televisual presence. I’d say they’re as on top of their game as they’ve ever been so hope they continue for some time yet. Congratulations to them both!
Well done…a lot of marriages do not last that long…
I am a Perth boy and Rick and Sue started reading the news together when I was 4. They are an institution in Perth and I am one of the viewers that has had my dial on Seven News my whole life. They really are part of the Perth family. The only one thing that agitates me is that when sport is finished, the presenter flicks back to Rick and Sue whom state the weather is after the break and then they are never to be seen again. They don’t come back after the weather and say goodnight. The weather presenter just hands over to Today Tonight. Can they not hang around for literally 5 mins to say goodnight to their loyal viewers. It’s not a big deal bit its not very personable considering Rick and Sue are supposed to be like family. Just a thought.
I understand it is the same set as TT so they make way for TT host during the weather.
It would be. There’s a digital set with red for the news and blue for TT. It’s a shame they didn’t build a real set when they moved to Osborne Park
And “live” from Perth at 4am.
I must’ve missed something…”live” at 4am?
There was no mention it was live. It may well have been recorded the previous day and slotted in to the Sunrise telecast to save them the super early start.
Bottom right unmissable red flashing “Live” graphic. Live at 4am WST.
Just says Live, with 7.52 below it. That would make it 5.52am Perth time would it not?
Rick & Sue are an institution. I can picture them going for another 10+ years too.
In this case I understand them not wanting to break up Rick and Sue but never understood by Seven and Nine have 2 news presenters in some markets and 1 in another especially when the markets with 2 tend to be the smaller markets. Anyone have any idea why this is the case?
