Ruby Rose gets Batwoman pilot

Good news for Aussie star after her debut in Arrow crossover-event.

The CW has officially handed a pilot order for Batwoman starring Ruby Rose following her debut in last month’s multi-part Arrowverse crossover event “Elseworlds.”

The story by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) will follow Kate Kane, described as “an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter” who is “primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.”

Greg Berlanti will co-executive produce with David Nutter (Arrow, The Flash) to direct.

It’s a big win for Rose who, prior to Orange is the New Black, spoke about her battle with depression.

  1. Ruby Rose might stir things up a bit in this Arrowverse, her debut was better than I anticipated especially with Steven Amell dressed as the Flash, not his best look and not likely to impress his fans much.
Was there a hint of sexual attraction with Supergirl?, with the shows hype about Batwoman being a lesbian it’s a somewhat silly bit of PC sensationalism by the shows producers for a comic book hero.

    1. I think they did that to assure everyone that they were sticking with Batwoman as a lesbian and cousin of Batman like she has been in the comics since her redux in 2006. As opposed to the Kathy Kane version from 1956 (wasn’t related to Batman) who was always fawning over Batman, like wise the original 1961 Batgirl Betty Kane over Robin.
