The Reubens for MTV Unplugged Melbourne

The Rubens will be the fourth act to perform for MTV Unplugged Melbourne,filmed in front of a live audience on Thursday 28 of February at The Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda.

“We never expected to be able to quit our day jobs, so to be asked to play a set for MTV Unplugged Melbourne, at the iconic music venue, The Esplanade Hotel, is an incredible milestone for us. We look forward to bringing this show to life,” they said.

It will screen in March on MTV.

The five-piece band – comprised of brothers, Zaac (guitar), Sam (vocals) and Elliott (keyboards) Margin and Scott Baldwin (drums) and William Zeglis (bass guitar) – become the fourth Australian artist to be featured on MTV Unplugged Melbourne, joining Gang of Youths, Amy Shark and DMA’S, and the first to be featured in 2019.

Since the release of their Platinum ARIA Accredited self-titled debut album in 2012, Gold ARIA Accredited Hoops in 2015 and their recent third studio album, LO LA RU, The Rubens have been a mainstay on both the album and single charts with hits such as the triple j Hottest 100 #1 single Hoops, Halluejah, Lay It Down, My Gun, and most recently, LO LA RU’s Million Man, Never Ever (feat. Sarah) and God Forgot.

2018 also proved to be The Rubens’ biggest year to date, releasing LO LA RU in June and debuting at number 3 on the ARIA charts. They have undertaken a mammoth worldwide headline tour across Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Europe and most recently supported P!NK on her massive 42-date sell out arena tour of Australia and New Zealand.
