2018 ratings: the final word
After 28 Day Consolidated viewing is tallied, AFL still topped the year.

OzTAM has now released its final tally of the 2018 calendar year, after numbers for 28 Day Consolidated viewing were tallied.
AFL dominated the year in both Free to Air (metro) and Subscription Television (metro + regional). Sport & Reality TV dominated the Top 20 overnight viewing shows. Sport also ruled in multichannels, with 7mate leading in this space.
But Drama still dominates in Timeshifted titles with The Good Doctor, Jack Irish and 800 Words .

‘Religion is the opium of the masses’ wrote Karl Marx back in the mid-19th. century. Looking at both FTA and Fox ratings you’d have to update his comment and replace religion with sport.
Interesting consolidated figures. I watch almost everything through my PS4 and only Seven, Nine and ABC have apps on that platform. SBS used to. Roy Morgan says 2.9 million Aussies have a PS4 and half use them for SVOD. Not having the full complement of FTA offerings seems like such a wasted opportunity.
For the sports fans this is great and AFL wins, but the couple of us that aren’t need rankings 21 to 40 to see what ‘we’ prefer. How about making ‘sport’ number 1 (by a country mile) then rank everything other than sport, after that.

As David has pointed out a few times if he is to continue to report Ratings Results on here then he has to do it the way it is presented as that is all OzTAM will allow him to do. Back in August 2016 (then) OzTAM CEO Doug Peiffer answered some questions and the question of : Why can’t we have a list above Top 20 – e.g. Top 30, 40, etc for free? was answered in that.
