ABC contacts staff affected by possible underpayments

2560 employees were paid using the fixed or “flat rate” payments in potential underpayments.

The ABC today confirmed it has contacted the majority of current & former casual employees who were potentially affected by an underpayments issue, identified by the Community and Public Sector Union in December, and will be reviewing their cases.

2560 employees engaged between 1 November 2012 and 24 December 2018, and since, were paid using the fixed or “flat rate” payment system.

“The ABC is committed to completing the review and ensuring any casual employee who has been underpaid receives backpay as soon as possible,” it said in a statement.

“The ABC will continue to engage with the CPSU, the MEAA and the Fair Work Ombudsman, as well as with all of our employees, as we work through this issue.”
