Angie Kent: “I reckon I could be an alright Bachelorette”

Personable, authentic & naturally funny. Angie toys with the idea of another starring TV role.

10 is already looking at further casting opportunities for those who are exiting the jungle and the idea of Angie Kent as The Bachelorette will now be on the table.

“I always said, ‘God no’, but you know what, I think after having more time on television now and being on the other side of the couch… I reckon I could be an alright Bachelorette,” she told Yahoo.

“I’m definitely open to finding somebody. I just turned 29 so home girl’s not getting any younger, so for sure!”

10 could do a lot worse than consider Kent for its 2019 Bachelorette. As we’ve seen across both Gogglebox and I’m a Celebrity, she is personable, authentic and naturally funny. She is also very up to speed on the tricks used by reality producers so she may yet change her mind too. If she is cast it would be very awkward for Gogglebox to ignore an entire season given recent exec comments….

Meanwhile 10 has already ruled out Justin Lacko for The Bachelor.

“You’re not the first person to suggest it. I think he would be a lovely Bachelor but I don’t think so,” Head of Programming Daniel Monaghan recently revealed.

The whispers are that this year’s man will be an ‘unknown.’

Guess that rules out Dr. Chris Brown for the gig too.

  1. Nothing against Angie, but I would prefer if they kept ‘celebrities’ out of it altogether and simply went with a contestant from the previous season who missed out like they do in the US version, as I find I tend to have more interest in the show when they do so.

I realise the show is ultimately about ratings and looking at the past 2 seasons of the Bachelorette, Sophie Monk rated very well and Ali didn’t. That being said I think many of us felt Ali was a bad choice before the show began. Sophie rated highly I feel because she is so likeable and well known.

It would be interesting to compare the ratings for Sam Frost and Georgia Love who followed Sophie, to see whether some fame works better than someone who lost at love as a prior contestant. I have a feeling Sam’s season rated better, but it was also the first season of the Bachelorette which I assume adds a curiosity…

  2. This is the problem with TEN. There is a flow on of people from one show to another. Now, if a show does not rate well, this flow on effect could be disatrous. Fresh faces do not always pay off but recycling faces that don’t rate is worst.

  3. Chris would make the perfect Bachelor. Bit he’s never do it.
Angie would make a pretty good Bachelorette.
Maybe, now he’s single, he and Angie could get together. .
