A new comedy pilot, Legends 1980, with its feet firmly entrenched in an era of Rubik’s Cubes, microwaves and VCRs is the subject of network talks.
The project by LA-based ex-pat Aussie producer / writer / director Stan Harrington centres around three teenage boys.
The cast includes Matt Testro (Nowhere Boys), Matt Werkmeister (Neighbours), Emmett Skilton (The Almighty Johnsons), Rick Peters (Dexter), Sally Anne-Upton (Wentworth) and famed Neighbours casting director Jan Russ.
There are plans to feature an 80s icon in very episode and a classic 80s rock soundtrack.

Looks great! Love a Melbourne based show – bring it on!!!
Legends 1980 is looking like a fantastic series, it has some brilliant well-known and new aussie talent and seems to be honest and accurate in its depiction of aussie rules, schooling and life! Hoping for it to be picked up because I can’t wait to see it!
This show looks awesome. Can’t wait to watch it!
So they’ve found the box set for Freak and Geeks and The Inbetweeners, had a look and like them….if this is half as good as them it will be worth watching.
That 70’s show had legs for a while.
This is entirely different. It’ll be a hoot!
