FOX League ready for 4K

NRL presenters were out in force at Sydney Cricket Ground today ready for the Premiership Season and 4K broadcasts.

The stars of FOX League channel today assembled on the hallowed turf of the Sydney Cricket Ground to launch their 2019 season, to the sounds of Queen’s “I Want It All.”

Gathered for media were presenters & commentators including Matty Johns, Andrew Voss, Braith Anasta, Yvonne Sampson (who compered proceedings), Matt Shirvington, Hannah Hollis, Mal Meninga, Graeme Hughes, Lara Pitt, Billy Moore, Corey Parker, Steve Roach, Luke Lewis and more.

Head of FOX Sports Peter Campbell, said, “We can’t wait for the new season to kick off on Thursday March 14. If you’re a Rugby League fan and you want it all then the FOX League proposition is amazing. A dedicated 24 / 7 channel. Every game of the Telstra NRL Premiership Live in HD with no ad breaks during play. The most talented team of Rugby League experts and analysts ever assembled, many of whom who are here with us today. The best entertainment and news shows across the week.

“In 2019 we will create history, broadcasting Rugby League in stunningly beautiful 4K Ultra HD for the first time. We will broadcast at least 40 games Live in 4K Ultra HD this season, bringing fans a stadium-like viewing experience in their lounge rooms.”

4K broadcasts begin on March 15 when the Newcastle Knights meet the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and follows with March 22 when Canberra Raiders take on Melbourne Storm.

“We also welcome to FOX League, the FOX Rover. You saw it patrolling the boundaries during the FOX Cricket summer and now FOX Rover will bring a new perspective to our Rugby League coverage,” he continued.

Games are also available at Kayo Sports, Foxtel GO and FOX League app.

Campbell added, “One of our core propositions is Live coverage with no ad breaks during play. Our commercial partners embrace this big point of difference which our fans love. We work closely with them on innovative ways to integrate their brands into our broadcast, to give them the FOX League audience numbers and exposure in a partnership around the games and suite of entertainment shows across the week. Our subscribers gravitate to those brands even more because of it.”

Matty Johns said of the upcoming season, “I get the feeling this year the bias will be on attack rather than defence which will be great for the game. I see the emergence of a lot of young sides, coming out of nowhere like the Broncos and Panthers, my Newcastle Knights have a real focus on their attack. I think it will shock a lot of people.

Johns tips the Panthers and the Broncos for the Grand Final and named Titans’ A.J. Brimson as a breakout player.

“He’s tough, he’s talented and athletic. But above all he has a great attitude. I think he has a huge future.”

  1. Yeah that’s awesome.. Foxtel just keeps improving all the time.! David, I was reading and her name is Hannah Hollis not Hannah Hollins, looks like they wrote it wrong.

  2. 4K is not worth switching to satellite for.

I think it’s Hannah Hollis, not Holly Hollins unless Hannah has changed her name or there is a new person with a similar name.

Looking forward to the official start of the season on Saturday night with the charity shield.

    1. Around 2020 you won’t have a choice everyone is going satellite, a person I know working on Telstra HFC cable lines for NBNCO, has said NBNCO has ordered Foxtel off the HFC.
