Gogglebox beats Ms. Fisher, Seven wins Thursday.

Ratings: Seven claims their first night of the week, while 10 enjoys a bright spot in the schedule.

Gogglebox pulled 650,000 viewers and topped the demos last night, as the highest ranking non-News title for the night.

It defeated the premiere of Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries at 463,000 which subsequently took the lead from around 9:40pm. Seven will be looking to Timeshifted numbers from here.

Nine’s new Australian Crime Stories trailed both at 279,000, and finished behind ABC shows.

Seven Network won Thursday with 31.5% then Nine 24.7%, TEN 18.0%, ABC 17.8% and SBS 8.0%.

Seven News was #1 at 884,000 / 851,000 for Seven then Home & Away (577,000) and The Chase (495,000 / 326,000).

Nine News was best for Nine at 817,000 / 817,000 then A Current Affair (678,000), Young Sheldon (531,000 / 471,000), Hot Seat (443,000 / 264,000). A Bad Mothers replay was 174,000.

Elsewhere for 10 The Project drew 365,000 / 200,000, then 10 News First (326,000), Show Me the Movie (289,000), Blue Bloods (197,000 / 114,000) and Pointless (161,000).

ABC News (655,000), 7:30 (555,000), Escape from the City (477,000), Grand Designs Australia (352,000), The Drum (193,000), The Tunnel (104,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was Inside (264,000), Secrets of McDonalds (187,000), SBS World News (111,000) and Counterpart (54,000 / 29,000).

Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom ruled multichannels at 175,000.

  1. David put the idea out there for 10 to bring back ‘Who dares wins’ to replace pointless. used to love that show as a kid and would watch now at 24 in a heartbeat

  2. With Googlebox last night, two of the funniest and most risqué comments I’ve heard. One was from the young Asian guy and his comment about not being swallowed by a sinkhole but inferred something else and the dad commenting about seeing a possum in the bath with his wife. Almost fell off my chair in laughter.

  3. A little disappointing than an Australian drama series again failed in the ratings – a sub 500,000 figure is not great and the subject matter will likely have skewed towards the mature demographics.

  5. Pointless has to go, at least from the 6pm slot. Not a terrible show so perhaps it has a place somewhere but not at 6pm. Rating worse than the much discussed Today and it’s in prime time. Far from the sole cause of Ten’s problems but certainly not helping. Along with Carrie’s absence probably contributing to softer ratings lately for The Project.

      1. Channel 10 seems to think that being different by putting the news at 5pm is a great idea, but they’re getting less than half the ratings than 7 and 9 get for their 6pm news. Maybe they should move The Project to 6pm and get the entertainment started at 7pm, rather than leaving a half-hour block between 6 and 6.30pm that they’re constantly struggling to fill.

    2. I wonder how well Pointless would do if it was placed during prime time. The only quiz show we seem to have at night is ABC’s Hard Quiz at 8pm, once a week. I know I’d be more likely to watch the show if it was at a time like that.

  6. Had no idea Show me the Movie got bumped to Thursday – I’ve genuinely been enjoying it, but Thursdays have become a “no point in turning the TV on” kinda night
