Hannah Gadsby announces new tour

Retirement? What retirement?

Nanette star Hannah Gadsby last year told Netflix audiences she was retiring from comedy.

But that was before her show became a global sensation.

Now she has announced a new show, Douglas (the name of a dog).

Douglas will premiere in Melbourne on March 27 (her only confirmed Australian date so far) before embarking on a US tour, kicking off in San Francisco on April 30.

More Australian dates will be announced, as well as dates in the US, Europe, Canada and New Zealand at hannahgadsby.com.au

There’s no word on any Netflix specials as yet.

NB: Upon arrival at the venue, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr cases that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their phones at all times, and can access their phones throughout the show at designated phone use areas in the venue. All phones will be re-secured in Yondr cases before returning to the performance space. Anyone seen using a mobile phone during the performance will be escorted out of the venue.

  1. I know there are many (my partner included) who are very critical of Hannah making this move but I’m sure they’re missing the point. In Nanette, she spoke quite rawly about not depreciating or demeaning her lesbianism for a laugh and (correct me if I’m wrong) but Douglas will be a show playing to her humourous strengths without that undercurrent of negativity. Personally, I’m really looking forward to being entertained by her again.
