SBS drama On the Ropes has been selected to screen at Series Mania in Lilles, France, next month.
This is the second Lingo Pictures production to be selected for Series Mania 2019. Lambs of God, starring Ann Dowd, Essie Davis and Jessica Barden, has been selected to screen in Official Competition.
On the Ropes created by Courtney Wise screened last year on SBS, with Nicole Chamoun as a young Iraqi-Australian woman who defies her father to chase her dream of becoming an elite women’s boxing trainer.
Producer Lingo Pictures’ Helen Bowden said, “We couldn’t be happier that On the Ropes will join Lambs of God at Series Mania. The show features a fabulously diverse cast, telling a story that isn’t defined by ethnicity or sexuality but is a universal story of family, ambition and love. Collaborating with the most exciting new female voices in Australian television – Courtney Wise, Tamara Asmar and Shannon Murphy – has been an absolute highlight for me.

What did the French do to deserve a failed series like that thrust upon them? (Look at the viewing figures here for the truth of that…).
