Renewed: Mom

Not one but two more seasons for Chuck Lorre comedy.

Chuck Lorre-created comedy Mom has been renewed for two more seasons.

The series starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney is now in its sixth season and has crossed the 100 episodes threshold required for syndication.

“We’re exceptionally proud to have Mom on our air; a high-quality, signature comedy with characters viewers love, that also brings strength and stability to our lineup,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “Under Chuck Lorre’s extraordinary leadership and with his outstanding writing and production team, we look forward to having Mom on CBS for many years to come.”

The show is currently broadcast the #3 US comedy series behind Lorre’s Big Bang and Young Sheldon.

Mom airs in Australia on Nine.

  1. With the TBBT finishing up and new shows struggling (so that Mom’s relative rank has been improving season on season), it makes sense to keep their now #2 sitcom while they figure out what else to do. The main cast has been whittled down to the 2 stars, their 3 friends and Adam, and its short mostly on a small number of sets, so the price is right.
