Strike Back confirms final season

US action series, with Aussie Daniel MacPherson, will produce one more adventure.

US action series Strike Back, has confirmed one more season, a seventh for Pay TV ntwork Cinemax.

Including the original UK season, it will be an eighth season overall.

The series about a covert special ops team was originally commissioned by UK broadcaster SKY in 2010 with Richard Armitage and Andrew Lincoln.

HBO-owned Cinemax joined in season two starring Philip Winchester and Aussie Sullivan Stapleton, as their first primetime drama series. It continued with subsequent seasons and annual breaks, with a new cast in 2017 including Daniel MacPherson.

Strike Back established Cinemax as a destination for adrenalised, entertaining action series nearly a decade ago,” said Kary Antholis, president, HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming. “It is with sincere gratitude for the service of all of the past and present members of Section 20 – both in front of and behind the camera – that we send the team on one last mission to save the world from annihilation.”

“I am delighted we’re coming back for a final season,” said showrunner Jack Lothan. “Strike Back is a show that’s always raised the bar for small screen action, and we’re looking forward to doing that one last time. There are plenty of twists and turns ahead, but I can promise one thing — we’re going out with a bang.”

It airs in Australia on FOX Showcase.

  1. Loved the show with Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton, they a always managed to get Sullivan Stapleton in a sex scene in every episode, haha. Never overly warmed with the change in cast, some of the acting including accents are awful.

  2. I liked strike Back with Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton doing their stuff, that was when the show became franchise material and left any pretense of being based on special forces reality behind, after these two main actors left their charisma was not fully replaced, but it still is a good live action stunt show all the same, if you can ignore the obvious plot flaws. I would expect Damian and Michael to make a return guest appearance return somewhere in Strike Back’s finale series as they did in at the end of season 6.
