The Haunting of Hill House renewed as anthology series

The next season will be titled The Haunting of Bly Manor based on The Turn of the Screw.

The Haunting of Hill House is returning to Netflix as an anthology, featuring an entirely new story and new set of characters.

The next season will be titled The Haunting of Bly Manor based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, which tells the story of a governess hired to look after a pair of siblings. However, several ghosts around their manor house exhibit a supernatural hold over the children.

Creator Mike Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy have secured a deal to produce new TV projects exclusively for Netflix. Both previously collaborated on films like Gerald’s Game, Oculus, and Hush while they have the upcoming Doctor Sleep, a feature adaptation of Stephen King’s follow-up to The Shining, with Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson.

“Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats, but unable to look away,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on The Haunting series and future projects to come.”

  1. Great news. Absolutely brilliant first season, some good twists and the episode structure was engaging, albeit with a slightly below par final episode/conclusion. Looking forward to more.

      1. Yeah there was a lot in the background of certain scenes, with the one with the mould in the basement being the most prominent. Loved those little touches!
