Airdate: Downfall

SKY News special will look at Cricket's scandal 12 months on and whether suspended players will be welcomed back.

On Sunday SKY News will screen, Downfall, a half-hour special looking at the scandal that shook Australian cricket last year and whether any lessons have been learned.

Downfall will feature insights from former cricket legends, offering their thoughts on whether Australian cricket will welcome suspended players back and how will they fit into the team after their suspension.

Producer and journalist Tim Sheridan said: “Give the game’s best minds a year to reflect, and Australian Cricket’s path to and from Cape Town is a riveting analysis – not just of three players but of a whole sporting culture.

“While they don’t pull any punches and point to a number of unanswered questions, all the interviewees are positive about the future, and Downfall even includes a dollop of humour to help the recovery.”

A year on from the Cape Town ball tampering scandal as Steve Smith and David Warner return from exile, SKY News will premiere Downfall this Sunday at 6:30pm AEDT, a new half-hour special that will examine one of Australian cricket’s lowest points.

With exclusive insights from some of the game’s foremost commentators including Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Allan Border, Gideon Haigh, Robert Craddock and Peter Lalor, Downfall dissects the breakdown in culture that led to Cape Town.

Downfall takes us back to Cape Town and will examine the reaction, the penalties and how Australian cricket has gone about healing.

Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft have served their time, the ICC World Cup and Ashes are ahead, but what did the game of cricket learn from this whole traumatic episode?

Sunday 31 March at 6:30pm AEDT on SKY News Live.
