Neighbours theme remixed for Mardi Gras

20 Neighbours cast members & 60 crew and Fremantle staff will be marching to a new beat.

20 Neighbours cast members and 60 crew and Fremantle staff  will be performing to new remix of the soap’s famous theme song in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras tomorrow night.

The parade float will be celebrating the marriage of Aaron (Matt Wilson) and David (Takaya Honda).

While corporate entries are strictly vetted by organisers, Neighbours ongoing representation in the GLBTI community has paved the way for a first-ever inclusion.

The original song, composed by Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch, has been reworked for the occasion by Producer, Dariush Etemad.

In 2018 Neighbours made history with the first same-sex marriage for an Australian television drama following the landmark change to the Marriage Act.

  1. i don’t know what’s worse, this song or Jason’s mullet in the 80’s. the remix is such a let down for this historic event. but I guess if you’re under the influence of “the magic of Mardi Gras” you probably won’t mind it.

Can’t wait to see the episodes they are apparently filming at Mardi Gras to air and how they edit out all the half naked people walking around. Something tells me the MG episode will be referred to as the “episode when Dr Karl wore ass-less chaps”.
