Newman has 2 yr deal with Nine

Sam Newman has a two year deal with Nine for the Sunday Footy Show and select Footy Show specials.

But the controversial star jokes he has been “sacked” from the weekly edition.

“If logically I have been on a show called The Footy Show for quarter of a century and The Footy Show is going on and I am not on it — it is just a tongue in cheek — if somebody wants to say I have been sacked, I am very happy to acknowledge that,” he said.

“I have said this plenty of times over the past 25 years, I am just filling in time until I am sacked and one day I will be right.”

A new-look Footy Show is tipped for Wednesday March 20 with Brendan ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann, Brendan Fevola, Dylan Alcott and a yet to be revealed female presenter, produced by Eddie McGuire’s Jam TV.

McGuire is due to return with Newman in a handful of Footy Show specials.
