Netflix has renewed Canadian-made supernatural drama The Order for a second season after less than 3 weeks.

The show, created by Dennis Heaton and Shelley Eriksen, revolves around a secret society called the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, on a university campus.

The cast includes Jake Manley, Sarah Grey, Matt Frewer, Sam Trammell and Max Martini.

The renewal announcement was made via a social media clip.

Magic societies obviously has a certain attraction for some viewers, the end of Harry Potter offered opportunities for TV to fill the supernatural gap so no surprises that Netflix’s ‘The Order’ did enough to get a renewal. Foxtel has ‘Legacies’ to make comparisons and of course there’s ‘The Magicians ‘ which is having a reasonable run as well. The Order has the potential to be a regular on Netflix but production time and good story development will be important, too long a wait for a new season will mean some fans will have lost interest when it returns.
