Netflix has now confirmed Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City will begin on Friday June 7.
The 10 part series is the fourth instalment in the melodrama, first seen in 1993 and later in 1998 & 2001.
Mary Ann (Laura Linney) returns to present-day San Francisco and is reunited with her daughter Shawna (Ellen Page) and ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), twenty years after leaving them behind to pursue her career. Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture-perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann is quickly drawn back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis), her chosen family and a new generation of queer young residents living at 28 Barbary Lane.
Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City is a Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International studios production for Netflix.
Lauren Morelli serves as Showrunner and Executive Producer, alongside Executive Producer/Director Alan Poul, and Executive Producers Armistead Maupin and Laura Linney.
Working Title’s Andrew Stearn, Liza Chasin, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner executive produce.
Friday June 7 on Netflix.

Can’t wait! I really hope they make the original series available as well. Would love to watch it all again before the new one starts.
This came quicker than I thought. I read the books as a young adult in the 90s. I remember enjoying the first series. It seems a world away from me now. If it’s set in modern day, how is Anna Madrigal still alive?
Anna Madrigal was 92 years old in 2014’s book “The Days of Anna Madrigal”.
Excited for this.
Yay! Welcome back, Tales. This looks wonderful and will warm many a cold Winter’s heart
