Heston Blumenthal back on MasterChef

World-renowned chef is part of the roll-call of top names this season.

Heston Blumenthal will return to MasterChef Australia this season.

Blumenthal last appeared on the 10 cooking show in 2018.

He joins previously-announced chefs Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein, Clare Smyth, Yotam Ottolenghi, Curtis Stone and Maggie Beer. Michelin star chef Massimo Bottura also returns.

Max Sharrad, Coskun Uysal, Donovan Cooke and Jesse McTavish will challenge, mentor and compete against contestants during Immunity Challenges with Poh Ling Yeow, season 7 winner Billie McKay, or season 8 runner-up Matt Sinclair as mentors.

This new season also sees a challenge for drought-affected farmers in Gippsland, a black-tie event at Melbourne’s State Library, a week exploring Queensland, and a cook-off at the bustling Surf Life Saving Club at Noosa.

Sashi Cheliah guides contestants at Auditions alongside fellow alumni including season 4 winner Andy Allen and season 8 winner Elena Duggan.

MasterChef Australia returns 7:30pm Monday on 10.

  1. Thanks for the heads up David! With such a great line up you think 10 would be promoting them everywhere!!!
Last week a media commentator questioned how 10 expect Masterchef to rate when there’s been little to no marketing in the wider media. I couldn’t agree more, I’ve seen and heard nothing apart from here!
Unless you’re watching 10…and most aren’t, how do they expect Masterchef to rate if you’re not telling anyone it’s back?

  2. Looking forward to this! With more and more announcements each week, I know that MasterChef is the smash hit 10 needs to improve it’s ratings.

  3. Really hope Master Chef premieres above 900k on Monday. Hopefully 10’s share will rise due to having Bachelor in Paradise on at 8.40.

  4. Bring it on would have been good if they could have got Gordon and Marco back instead of Heston and great to see Matt as a mentor he has done very well for himself his own show and restaurant next time we are in noosa we will definitely go to his restaurant sum young guys

    1. Why? Viewers have been waiting all year for MasterChef. House Rules poses no real competition and Lego Masters is an unknown entity and only goes for 3 weeks. I reckon MCA will do really well. I hope so for 10’s sake.

      1. I believe TEN has been waiting all year for MCA and maybe some viewers. I agree with Bass_A that it will be down. Needs a bit of a shakeup. Getting rid of George and Matt would be a great start.

  5. Now that Marco Pierre White’s show on 7 didn’t go ahead I wonder if he will come back? And would like Gordon Ramsay back too. I expected to hate him last year but he didn’t yell or swear like on his other show. He was very encouraging & very funny.

    1. He wouldn’t have been allowed to! I just hope 10 cuts out all the unnecessary waffle, i.e. commentary by the contestants on what they need to do with their dish, which is obviously added in after the show’s finished. It all wastes time and drags the show on unnecessarily.
