Jimmy Rees withdraws from Dancing with the Stars

Giggle & Hoot star withdraws to spend time with family following a health scare for 7 week old son, Mack.

Jimmy Rees has been forced to withdraw from Dancing With The Stars following a health scare with one of his new born twins.

“Jimmy Rees has made the difficult decision to leave Dancing With The Stars. His seven-week-old son, Mack, recently suffered complications during a routine procedure and is in hospital in a stable condition,” a Network 10 spokesperson said.

“Understandably, Jimmy has left the competition to be by his son, and wife Tori’s side, during this difficult time.”

The Giggle & Hoot star and his wife Tori welcomed twin boys Mack and Vinny in early February, just weeks before the 10 series began. They also have a three-year-old son, Lenny.

His departure leaves just 4 remaining acts: Samuel Johnson, Courtney Act, Constance Hall and Jett Kenny.

Health issues have hit the the 10 series with host Grant Denyer still recovering from an annular fissure.

  1. Sad to see Jimmy go, I loved watching him dance. But family will always come first and has been looking after his other two boys while his wife was in hospital with Mack.
So disappointed to see the two best dancers, Courtney and Sam, in the bottom two and at risk last night. Thank god it was a non-elimination. Those two deserve to be in the Grand Final.

  2. David, a belated “bravo!” for your article on DWTS last week – I’ve never been a fan, but I’ve watched the current season every week without fail. A shock to see Courtney in the bottom two this week – she deserves to win but will suffer the same fate as Olympia Valance if her fans don’t get behind her. Jet would have gone this week if Jimmy hadn’t had to withdraw.

  3. Just saw an ad for dwts tonight saying Jimmy has quit so tune in tonight to find out why. Um I think we already know, but maybe he has done a prerecorded goodbye

  4. He was really good as well. But his son is more important. I hope his son makes a speedy recovery. I enjoyed seeing Jimmy dance. He would always put in 100% and was up there near the top. It’s a shame. So will they still go through with an elimination tonight or just say Jimmy has left so we won’t have one.

  5. That is a shame. And I can’t imagine Jett Kenny being too good tonight seeing how he has been competing at Aussies 2019 for the last week….

  6. What a shame, it was great watching him on DWST. The show must go on I guess, wishing both Jimmy and his family well. So would that mean there’s still an elimination tonight or these Final 4 contestants/celebrities are all advancing to next weeks Grand Final?

      1. That’s a shame – a finale of 2 means the act with the most votes cannot lose (as public vote traditionally prevails). In a finale of three acts, it at least means the couple with the highest score is still in the running even if they don’t top the public vote.

  7. Does this mean one episode will be cut? That would be a shame Or maybe they will do an immunity week where one contestant is safe and the rest have to dance the following week? Or is it simply that there is one less dancer in the finale? How many more episodes to go?
