Lego wins reality race, MasterChef pushes House Rules to fourth in slot.

Lego Masters has topped the reality battle for a second night but the return of MasterChef has pushed House Rules into fourth in its slot.

Lego Masters drew 1.05m viewers in its second outing and topped the demos. MasterChef returned to 715,000 viewers, 10’s best number in the 7:30 slot for a long time, but down on last year’s premiere of 890,000. It was second across all demos. House Rules was pushed to fourth in the slot behind 7:30 at 561,000.

The Leader’s Debate pulled 317,000 Live on 7TWO with another 271,000 watching a replay later on Seven. But the network says those numbers will be adjusted due to a coding issue.

  1. Maybe 2019 could be Nine’s year, with MAFS & now Lego Masters doing well. I would expect The Block will continue to do good business. The Voice definitely a weak point however.

  2. Look, Masterchef used to be a mammoth rating success. Considering that 715k is obviously MC’s lowest premiere to date – it’s still a good number for 10 even up against 9’s big new show LM. Knowing that it can outrate 7’s HR (except maybe house reveals), that’s also a good result. It’s just a matter of time before HYBPA arrives and can help boost 10’s ratings!

  3. Forget fta TV….Game of Thrones epic 80 minute episode was amazing last night. Just brilliant….we had it on steaming….legally I hasten to add

  4. Gotta say 7 stuffed up last night. Should have had debate on main channel followed by House Rules. Comming in halfway through is not good. House rules will pick up. LM is a bright star but only 3 weeks. Return of MCA was underwhelming and 700K for what might be TENs top show is not good enough.

  5. Channel 9 look like that have again triumphed over 7, good to see MC doing well for Channel 10, we need 3 even stations producing good content and competition is good for us viewers….

  6. Maybe Seven should have put the leaders debate on the main channel. They promoted it very heavily during their east coast news bulletins, and saw a big switch over to 7Two as a result. That audience might not have returned to House Rules halfway through, which Seven could’ve played after the debate instead.

  7. House Rules is schmuck. It has only survived because it fills a big chuck of schedule and has, previously, not had much competition. Pleased to see that may now be changing.

With LM launching well and MC returning to be a more food-related program vs personality based rubbish, I’d say bland old House Rules is looking v shaky.

      1. It used to be but it lost it’s way a couple of years ago when it became more about the judging than the renovation, plus artificially trying to create tension with pointless challenges and how they split the houses. The judging and house reveal used to be just the final half of the last show of the week – now it’s practically two shows.

  8. Great to see LM building an audience..
They really laid the foundations early..
The whole production just snaps together..
LM can only keep building from here..

    Ok, Ill stop..

    1. It’s a neat little show and it’s good to see something a bit different, but ‘build from here’ It lost about 300,000 viewers in 24 hours?

    2. Don’t think LM dropping from 1.38m to 1.05m (-25%) is “building an audience”.
Skipped most of MC, will catch it this afternoon. Will be an ardent watcher once it gets underway. Leaders’s Debate was a mess, with that sick pink & blue & primrose too green screen, constantly moving in different directions. then the “votes” from the audience of 30 were transposed. Shorten’s score under Morrison and Morrison’s score under Shorten.
