Renewed: The Umbrella Academy

Netflix superhero series will be back for more.

US superhero series The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a second season of 10 episodes.

The series centres around seven children who develop incredible powers and are adopted by an eccentric billionaire, who trains them to save the world.

Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin Min will all reprise their roles, with Steve Blackman to return as showrunner.

The series is based on the comic book series of the same name created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics.

It launched on Netflix in mid-February.

  1. What a delight this show is. Will definitely be there when I think about the best new shows of 2019 at the end of the year. Keen for more.

    1. Yes, I agree, this show would be my choice for binge watching if I had the time. The Umbrella Factory is one of the better recent efforts of the metahuman genre which has been popular sci-fi for quite a while now. The DC universe has it’s nearest equivalent offering called ‘Doom Patrol’, as Netflix also streams Black Lightning, Gotham, and Arrow in Australia and have saved Lucifer from oblivion it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Netflix and DC, considering Disney+ has regained control of Marvel Television.
