Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said: “This is a huge year for drama on Foxtel and especially so for our Australian titles, which are spearheaded by the remarkable Wentworth, now in its seventh season. This year the producers and writers have pushed the boundaries even further, the storytelling is as bold and confronting as it’s ever been and the performances from this dynamic ensemble are superb. Fans won’t be disappointed. On any measure, this is television drama at its very best.

Wentworth is a global success story, not just for Foxtel, but for our local industry. It is a distinguished production, a brilliant showcase for our talent on and off the screen and a captivating viewing experience for our customers and broadcast partners around the world,” he said.

  1. As a huge fan of Wentworth I felt that last season was its worse ever and was surprised it got renewed. Just when you thought they couldn’t top the previous season they finally ran out of ideas. Wentworth prison. Bea Smith, Franks Doyle & Joan Fergusson were the stars and are huge losses to Wentworth. It’s such a shame it didn’t go out on top.

    1. I disagree. 10 episodes is perfect. That ensures the show remains all killer and no filler. Less is more in this bloated TV world we are living in at the moment.

  2. Let’s face it, that trailer doesn’t give much away. In fact considering the focus on past characters in the first half, one might even say it’s slightly misleading. But by the end I was still goose-bumped and champing at the bit to get stuck in. Damn, I love this show.

  3. Can’t wait to see this back on our screens. One of, if not the best show to come out of Australia, ever.

The production, casting, writing and the performances from the top right down have been phenomenal and to have it for at least 3 more seasons is excellent news.
