Sigrid Thornton honoured with Chauvel Award

Esteemed actress Sigrid Thornton was this week presented with the Chauvel Award at the Gold Coast Film Festival, for her significant contribution to the Australian screen industry.

The event at Movie World paid tribute to her five decades of screen credits including The Man from Snowy River, The Lighthorsemen, Paradise/Guns of Paradise, Prisoner, SeaChange, All the Rivers Run, and, more recently, Wentworth.

She has also been a board member for Film Victoria and is currently executive producer and lead actor on a reboot of SeaChange, which is now in pre-production for Nine.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said “The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland and Tourism and Events Queensland, is proud to be a major supporter of the Gold Coast Film Festival and we congratulate the festival on cementing their reputation as a key event on the screen industry calendar through the Screen Industry Gala Awards.

“The Gold Coast Film Festival is one of 10 screen culture events we have supported in 2019 and we are delighted to see the festival continue to attract locals, tourists and screen industry professionals alike to enjoy their dynamic program and now to celebrate outstanding achievement in the screen industry through the awards.”
