The Voice confirms returning contestants

Singers from past 7 seasons will get another shot at glory, alongside new contestants.

The Voice has confirmed a shake up to its format this season with “All Star” singers from previous seasons given another shot at glory, alongside new talent.

Described as “a world first for the competition” Nine confirms “the most championed fan favourites who missed out on their chance to win The Voice will get a chance at redemption when they return as All Stars to compete against the new talent for a place on the teams of the four Coaches.”

“This year we are bringing back the All Stars,” says Nine’s Head of Content Production and Development, Adrian Swift. “Over the years brilliant singers have been knocked out of The Voice along the way. Sometimes they weren’t confident enough, sometimes it wasn’t their best performance the day they were on stage, so this year they’re coming back.

“We think this new dimension of the show will make it really interesting, seeing people you know and love from the past seven seasons of The Voice coming back to try and turn a chair again.”

Coaches this year are Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland and Boy George. The Voice is currently in production with ITV Australia.

  1. I’d love to see Kat Jade from series 3 in 2014 return. Her cat ears and snorting made me laugh. I was most disappointed she didn’t make the grand final.

  2. Would the viewing public even recognise these past “all stars” before being prompted by the show with what will no doubt be 5-minute long highlights packages before each one?

Do any of the previous winners still hold a record contract with Sony? Perhaps all the winners could return and compete for a new one?

I know I sound extremely cynical, but The Voice isn’t about the contestants, it’s about the egos of the judges and a good back story. Also – is there a reality talent show that Guy Sebastian hasn’t been involved in outside of Celebrity Splash?

  3. Wonder how the most championed fan favourites is being determined, guessing it will be based on “shock” eliminations and social media feedback at that time on who people commentated about the most (even perhaps chairs not turning for some).

  4. Interesting concept. I would consider an ‘all-star’ to be either a fan favourite, or someone from the Live Shows eliminated from previous seasons for The Voice. Anyone who does not fit into those requirements isn’t identified as an all-star, my opinion.
