The most interesting aspect of Nine’s election night line-up is who is out, not in….

Peter Overton and Deb Knight will drive the primetime coverage with Political Editor, Chris Uhlmann (the same as its recent NSW state election coverage).

But not only is it the first federal election night without Laurie Oakes, but Karl Stefanovic is nowhere to be seen….

Nine has assembled the most experienced panel of political minds for its coverage of the 2019 Federal election on Saturday: Australia Decides.

Our comprehensive coverage begins at 7.00am with Weekend Today, which will provide a straightforward breakdown of the key election issues and policies that each party is hoping will secure your vote.

We will be there when polling booths open at 8.00am as Australians head to the polls to determine who will lead the nation into the next decade.

A special election-day edition of Nine News will be broadcast at 4.00pm.

Then at 5.00pm our election-evening coverage begins, including early results from our exclusive Nine-Galaxy exit poll.

Viewers in all capital cities will hear the very latest from reporters on the ground in electorates right around the country in their local editions of Nine News at 6.00pm.

Our rolling coverage on election night, hosted by Peter Overton and Deb Knight, begins at 7.00pm, delivering live results with unparalleled analysis from some of the biggest political names in the country.

Nine’s Political Editor, Chris Uhlmann, will spearhead our in-depth assessment as the votes are tallied.

Nine’s unrivalled panel will feature:

Julie Bishop (LIB) – Former Foreign Minister and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party
Tanya Plibersek (ALP) – Deputy Opposition Leader hoping to be Deputy Prime Minister by night’s end
Anthony Albanese (ALP) – Labor Shadow Minister and a former Deputy Prime Minister
Bridget McKenzie (NAT) – Nationals Deputy Leader
Chris O’Keefe – Nine Political Reporter
Ross Greenwood – Nine Finance Editor who will be crunching numbers and breaking down the key election battlegrounds at the Election Mega Wall

Our interactive broadcast will invite viewers to share their thoughts and opinions by sending us their tweets, Instagram photos and Facebook posts.

9news.com.au will be your one-stop destination for rolling online coverage, as well as providing expert analysis and additional breaking news. We’ll also be running a series of online polls to gauge the mood of the nation and showing the results on our Election Mega Wall.

We will cross regularly to Ben Fordham for updates from Liberal HQ, while Leila McKinnon will be with the Labor Party faithful as Australia waits to see who will take the keys to The Lodge for the next three years.

Nine’s team of reporters will be stationed in electorates across the country, bringing viewers the latest in breaking news from key seats.

Using our own state-of-the-art election system, we will also calculate results as determined by our team of experts at Nine’s Decision Desk.

And as the results come in to Nine’s Election HQ we will broadcast them in our Virtual Tally Room.

  1. I’ve always watched 9’s coverage so will watch this time too. Laurie Oakes will be missed. Chris Uhlman just doesn’t cut it. Maybe they should bring him out of retirement just for election nights. I will miss his funny contraptions the gurgler & the boot.
