Ratings: Who Do You Think You Are? returns strong for SBS.

Lego Masters now has three episodes at over a million metro viewers.
Last night the show drew 1.02m viewers as a first team was eliminated, and topped the demos. MasterChef Australia (also produced by Endemol Shine Aus) drew 678,000, second in the slot.
House Rules was again fourth in the slot at 550,000 but things should improve when it gets it a first reveal.
A compelling episode of A Current Affair in which Tracy Grimshaw interviewed Pauline Hanson won its slot at an impressive 855,000 viewers.
The return of Who Do You Think You Are? was also strong for SBS at 391,000 and will likely top their week as the network pulled a strong overall share.
Nine network won the night at 29.9% then Seven 26.1%, 10 20.0%, ABC 15.1% and SBS 8.9%.
Nine News was 991,000 / 964,000 for Nine. The Big Bang Theory was 599,000 then Hot Seat (522,000 / 286,000), Timeless (332,000) and Super Scary Plane Landings (164,000).
Seven News was #1 at 1.08m / 1.05m for Seven and Home & Away was solid at 748,000 followed by The Chase (611,000 / 354,000). Andrew Denton: Interview drew 481,000 and The Resident was 155,000.
Elsewhere for 10 were The Project (481,000 / 264,000), Bachelor in Paradise (440,000), 10 News First (428,000) and Pointless (193,000).
ABC News (735,000), 7:30 (562,000), The Recording Studio and Joanna Lumley’s Silk Road Adventure (both 334,000), The Drum (219,000), and Monash & Me (179,000) comprised ABC’s night.
On SBS it was Insight (270,000), SBS World News (157,000), Dateline (152,000) and Mastermind was 126,000.
Bluey again topped multichannels at 193,000.
Sunrise: 239,000
Today: 214,000
News Breakfast: 120,000 / 52,000.

Wonder if we will ever see the return of the ‘mini series’? Networks seem to revive old concepts….

I’m not sure they are on as much anymore? Maybe I don’t watch enough TV?
Today Show slowly climbing up to Sunrise. This is looking interesting. Will they take over?
10 ultimately needs to fix their programming a bit more and needs to polish up some of their shows before airing them.
Who Do You Think You Are? Scott Cam…was a very good episode…

I see that Pointless is improving in ratings, just when it is about to finish. I dont expect any greater numbers for the replacement. Does anyone know if pointless will be on Bold or Peach going forward

A second run of MKR this calendar year (if that’s broadcast during ’19) looks like it might be a mistake now and might finally ‘kill the golden goose’, given the already falling ratings for the last (just finished) run of MKR. As happens far too often, networks can’t resist wringing every last commercial drop out of successful shows, which normally leads to diminishing viewer returns.
Going to get interesting with Nine having The Voice coming in as it constantly beat House Rules last year (went back and forth with Masterchef), with of course NRL State Of Origin, the Cricket World Cup and Ashes as well. Seven really don’t have much in the cupboard apart from Australia’s Got Talent and MKR again, no “Event TV” this year like last years Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You (though granted they were a 2 year cycle with Molly 2016, INXS 2014).
That’s debatable. Seven also has AFL, two new dramas from Bevan Lee, First Dates: Australia and Bride and Prejudice. Nine only has the NRL & The Block as ammunition.
Hence why I think it’ll be interesting, forgot about First Dates and Bride and Prejudice they’ll be interesting as well then as will they get the MAFS treatment now and get viewers in. Still think the tussle between the AFL and Ashes Tests will be interesting as it’s in primetime being from England, 7:30pm starts and first days of Thurs and Weds alternating. Of course for Nine it will be of interest what they do with those Tests vs the NRL which like the AFL will be heading into the last weeks before Finals, and how long before curiosity fades on Smith and Co., returning for the Ashes.
When these shows audition for participants they are only looking for self confident people. Show offs or loud moths preferred. If you are the shy retiring type forget it
In my opinion there is a big difference between being self-confident and being a show off/ know it all.
Absolutely. It’s the difference between being confident and being over-confident. Confidence is good, but over-confidence is not.
Because all the best shows feature shy and retiring types…
House rules is filled with show offs who think they know better than the judges….very off putting to viewers.
