Manu Feildel on Australia’s Got Talent judging panel

Manu Feildel, Nicole Scherzinger, Shane Jacobson & Lucy Durack are Seven's new AGT judges.

MKR judge Manu Feildel is now an Australia’s Got Talent judge, with a panel of four announced by Seven this morning.

Joining him are former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, comedian and actor Shane Jacobson and actor Lucy Durack.

According to Seven’s release, Manu Feildel’s experience outside of MKR extends to juggling, unicycling and acrobatics at a circus school as a teenager.

“I’m super excited! I’m a huge fan of good old entertainment. It’s the kind of family show I’d like to watch myself. It’s simply entertaining for all ages. It just puts a smile on your face. Expect fun! Fun and a lot of laughs,” he said.

“It’s really wonderful to see every day people come on a stage and show their talent,” Nicole Scherzinger said. “These contestants can be your next-door neighbour or your grade school teacher – it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from. The show reminds everyone they too can follow their dreams and honour their gifts – even if they’ve kept them hidden.

“I love watching undiscovered talent come into their own. It takes a lot of courage to get up on a stage with millions watching, and I want to be that voice of encouragement to help these contestants ultimately become the best versions of themselves.”

Filming takes place in Sydney on May 11-14 and Melbourne on May 22-23. For free tickets go to australiasgottalent.com.au

AGT will air on Seven later this year with $100,000 prize money on offer, produced by Fremantle.

  1. Manu will be great! His excitement and personality is truly amazing. I’m looking forward to the show as I will surely watch and am waiting for who our host it (please let it be someone famous)…

  2. I don’t mind who the judges are providing they don’t have stupid acts on like people breaking water melons on their head, how that can be classified as talent is beyond me.

  3. Some odd choices. He is an engaging and fun personality so maybe Shane would’ve been better as host because like Manu what is his experience in this area? Not much unless you include hosting Little Big Shots. …..

    1. Shane Jacobson may not be a singer or dancer but has extensive performing experience in comedy, drama, hosting, acting and writing. Previous judges with no real singing experience Dawn French, Kyle Sandilands, Dicko, Sharon Osbourne.

  4. I honestly thought this story was a joke!?! Terrible choice of judges, I thought this show costed ch7 alot of money before they axed it? I am pretty sure the ratings will be not be so good for the network, the lineup has certainly turned me off straight away- so for that I won’t be watching.

  5. Nicole is an awesome get but why is Manu on Australia’s Got Talent. Channel 7 have got this so so wrong. I’m not excited for this show anymore.

  6. Even if he is talented (with all of his circus skills that is cited in the Press Release), I doubt the audience will respect his presence as a judge on a talent show – He is too associated with MKR for the general viewer to see him in something so different to MKR.

  7. I would be alright with him if Manu was still juggling, unicycling and performing acrobatics, but even the press release stated it was when he was a teenager. Doing a little research, he began when he was 13 and by the age of 16 decided that “cooking was his first love”. He is now 45. Doing the maths, he was juggling e.t.c 29 years ago. I’m sure he probably picks them up every so often, but really, for a show like this you want a judge who is still working in their industry and has made a big name for themselves in that field. I think Lucy will be a great judge and Nicole has proven herself time and time again across various talent shows. Shane, kind of intrigued by, but I think he might surprise me.

  8. Manu really? Just stay in the kitchen me thinks, surely there could have been heaps of other more capable judges in the entertainment industry then manu.

  9. Good grief , don’t they have anyone who is actually talented and experienced enough to judge…smacks of dredging the bottom of the barrel to me…

      1. The same can be said for Matt Preston on MCA. He is not a chef he just likes food…..gee I could be a judge because I also like food.

      1. She wasn’t just the lead singer – after the group broke up, it was revealed that she sang all the parts (with some very rare exceptions).

      2. Pussycat Dolls haven’t been together for about nine to ten years because Nicole wanted to go solo. Now Nicole barely sings and just judges talent shows like Dannii Minogue.

    1. I think a lot of people under about 35-40 should know Nicole Scherzinger not just from Pussycat Dolls but she had some hits as a solo singer too. “Don’t hold your breath” and “Right there”. Anyway, i really like her.

  10. Mmm, not sure about Manu, but ‘Scherzy’ is a good get. She’s been on X-Factor UK and various other things and is perfect talent show judge.

  11. I think Seven have made a big mistake here. MKR’s popularity is on the wane & Manu is a chef not an entertainer. Also Shane Jacobsen is running the risk of becoming Australia’s Next Overexposed.

  12. I’m not sure how well this will be received. I think it’s safe to assume that “Little Big Shots” won’t be returning. If I could have it my way, I’d love to see The X Factor: Australia back on the screen.

  13. I was excited when AGT was announced, Shane and Nicole would be good, not sure about Lucy. But having Manu there….OMG, I’m not that excited anymore. 7 just killed my enthusiasm.
