MasterChef edges debate on primary channels, Seven wins Wednesday.

Ratings: It was a close battle for the night between Seven & Nine. Leaders' Debate wins slot across 2 channels (Updated).

Updated: The final Leaders’ Debate on ABC drew the biggest broadcast audience of the three debates so far.

The Leaders’ Debate drew 600,000 on ABC, but another 78,000 were watching on ABC News.

MasterChef Australia won its slot on primary channels and topped the younger demos with 664,000 viewers, ahead of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation (628,000) which topped the eldest demo.  House Rules drew 586,000.

Seven network won Wednesday with 27.8% then Nine 27.6%, ABC 19.3%, 10 18.8% and SBS 6.5%.

Seven News was #1 at 1.02m / 977,000 for Seven then Home & Away (684,000) which topped entertainment picks. The Chase drew 569,000 / 361,000, The Bay was 397,000 and Criminal Minds was 194,000.

Nine News was best for Nine at 946,000 / 937,000 then A Current Affair (768,000). Hot Seat was 533,000 / 330,000, then Decades (459,000) and New Amsterdam (201,000).

ABC News (717,000) led for ABC, The Weekly drew (589,000), You Can’t Ask That (410,000), QI (275,000), The Drum (201,000) and Mum (131,000).

The Project (457,000 / 278,000), 10 News First (393,000), Bull (241,000 / 175,000),  Pointless (197,000) and Sports Tonight (65,000) comprised 10’s other primetime shows.

On SBS it was Going Places with Ernie Dingo (192,000), Great British Railway Journeys (178,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (168,000), SBS World News (132,000), and The Good Fight (86,000).

Bluey topped multichannels again at 189,000.

Sky News claimed 700,00 viewers watched the debate, David Speers seemed quite pleased with that number but generally speaking this election has had low interest value for most voters which indicates that most voters minds were already made up about the our future government which considering some of the economic assumptions and political aspirations could have long term consequences in the years ahead.

  2. When was the last time The Project got more than 500k? It is such a poor lead in to whatever 10 is trying to sell in the next time slot.

  3. Consistently poor figures for ‘The Good Fight’ on SBS which is a pity, but as an anti Trump polemic I suppose it’s not for everyone.

    1. I find the show throws just as much shade on the liberals and democrats. People could also be watching it on SBS on Demand or since SBS is playing catch up people might have watched these screened episodes on other paid services.

  4. Throwback to the time they moved an election debate because it clashed with the Masterchef final? I’d presume that was 2010. Good times.
