New Dame Edna special

Dame Edna will host an evening for the BBC with celebrity chat her luxury yacht.

Never say never, possums.

Dame Edna will film a new BBC special in London.

Her (first) farewell tour was in 2015, but a new tour travels around Oz this year.

Filmed in front of an audience, Dame Edna will host an evening with celebrity chat, music and surprises from her luxury yacht.

“The world needs sunshine so I am very happy to welcome you all on board. One hour on my yacht is better than a lifetime on a cruise liner,” she said.

Rachel Ashdown, BBC Commissioning Editor, says: “Over the past 50 years Dame Edna has got to grips with the world’s biggest stars and I am looking forward to seeing her welcome the current generation of celebrities to her sofa.”

An Aussie broadcaster is not yet announced.

  1. Hope she’s in fine form. Nothing worse than a performer whose best work is behind them and are now lackluster. If the material is good, this will be fun.

  2. I’m shocked. I thought Barry Humphries career was over since he made transphobic comments, and the outdated humour in his farewell tours. I’d love to see Shane Janek interview Barry

    1. Probably more a case of performing is in his blood, and he’s not ready to hang up the costumes and fade away just yet. The thrill he would get from making people laugh would be somewhat addictive, and his many worldwide fans would be very pleased to have another helping of his brilliant humour.
